Good Morning

I just wanted to pop on and say thank you to those of you who purchased some of the things I was selling on eBay, I will be posting out first thing on Monday. I've had a few emails asking why I was giving up crafting, I wouldn't say I'm giving up completely I will still be scrapbooking (seeing as I still have all last years Christmas photos, and my wedding ones to scrap) I will still be making the odd card for close friends and family, but at the moment I needed to take a 'time out' for me. I will also be blogging occasionally too.
Take care all, speak soon x

No cards, on card making day

Oh well today was national card making day, and I didn't make a single card! I should of though I have 3 birthdays this month, best get busy tomorrow. I have made other things this week though, from earrings to top hats. Started Monday when I found out for definite that I'm going home for a weekend 16th-19th Oct, I say home i mean back to Aylesbury, its 2 of my best friends 30th so they are having a joint fancy dress party, am really looking forward to it, its been a while since I had a night out, well the last time was my wedding night and that was in March, time before that was Christmas so its about time ;o)

Its also the same weekend my sister is going out for a meal to celebrate her 17th so the phrase 2 birds, 1 stone haha.

Anyway, I have my costume sorted almost, (just a little bit of lace adding needed to certain bits) you might guess from the photos Im going as what was meant to be Nancy from Oliver, but has now turned into a Victorian 'tart' lol. The corset I already had, the skirt i ordered from eBay, made a hoop skirt myself for underneath, the shawl also from eBay.
Also made a photo layout/frame of my friends daughter (lil sweetheart phoebe, pic was taken at my wedding) and a gift box/trinket.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. I'll be back again very soon.

Friday sketchers - sketch 71

Cant believe its been a whole week since my last post, I'm slipping again... but it has been a bit stressful here, wont go into it but hopefully things will be working out OK soon........fingers crossed.
Anyway decided to spend a little time crafting yesterday, I did the Friday Sketchers sketch 71 and created a nice and simple card for my stock pile, I really like the colours I used, and they're not what i would usually pick, the image is from pink petticoat, coloured with promarkers and i used this technique to create the embossed strip, the greeting was stamped from one of my see D's sets, not sure which one though.
I've also been making bracelets to put aside for birthday and Christmas presents, here's two Ive made, the blue is for my sisters (17th) birthday in October, I'm going to put together a word book too (spelling sister) I made the pages myself as they are very simple and work out loads cheaper. Will take pictures of that once I've progressed more with it.
Bye for now, I'm off to buy some paper stumps as my ones from eBay are not here yet :(

Friday sketchers & Stamp something

I thought summer was over?! the last week here in Edinburgh has been so nice the sun has shone, and the skies have been lovely and blue, surely it should be getting cold by now?! not that I'm complaining or anything, I'm just wondering when I should bring down my winter clothes from the top cupboard.
Anyway today's card is another combination of two challenges, we have Friday Sketchers sketch 70,

and also Stamp Somethings favourite colours or papers challenge. So the image is from the greeting farm (hope & grace) which was coloured with coloured pencils and sansodor, the solid coloured papers I used where from the two scoops (basic grey pad) my favourite paper pad i might add and it almost broke my heart when i tore circles of it to make the flowers, the patterned background paper is from an 8x8 paper wad that i got in a scrapbooking set in hobby craft, cant remember the name, but the papers are very pretty and its the first time I've used it. The colours are mainly pastel shades which are another favourite.

Really enjoyed making this card and I'm thinking tearing paper isn't so bad after all, I'm off now to finish my snackajacks, BBQ flavour...... they remind me slightly of those crisps i used to have in my lunch box at school, happy snax lol (you know the ones, all puffiness and no flavour, apart from the salt n vinegar ones)

bye for now, hugs Louise

Dreaming of Christmas,

Its not even the end of September yet already I'm looking forward to Christmas, it will be our first one together as a married couple in our new flat, past Christmases we have either stayed in Edinburgh and gone to spend it with Darren's family, or gone down to Aylesbury and spend it at my parents. This year I want a quiet Christmas just the two of us, with candlelit dinners, cuddles and chocolate on the sofa, and way too much TV. It will be bliss.
Also this year I'm not spending too much money, I'm going to make a lot of presents this year I think, homemade sweets and biscuits, jewellery, mini scrapbooks, I think its more thoughtful if you sit down and put your heart and soul into making a gift rather than trawling the shops or online sites looking for something that could well end up shoved at the back of a drawer. While I was in this Christmas mood, I decided to have a go at my own advent calendar, Ive seen loads made and in lots of different ways too, I decided to go with something I could hang and that wouldn't take me too long.

This it what I ended up with, I started by covering a 12x12 blank canvas with 12x12 scrapbook paper (Papermania naughty & nice) I then added 4 rows of co-ordinating fibres secured by staples on the back of the frame, the little pockets where made by cutting co-ordinating paper into 24 pieces (9.5cm x 7.5cm) then folded in half and scored 1.5cm in from the edge (both sides)fold and glue the top sides down and the glue again to seal the little pocket. I then numbered and decorated them and attached them to the 'lines' on the canvas with mini wooden pegs (coloured with promarkers so that all the colours matched) I'm quite pleased with how quick I put it together, and hopefully if taken care of should last me at least this year and next, I will nearer the time of course fill the little pockets with a chocolate coin each.

2 Challenges in one

I'm loving all the challenge blogs I'm finding, finally gives me a reason other than occasions to get out my stash and make something. This time I'm doing the Colour Create Challenge which is Challenge 27 - Neon and black and Cupcake Craft Challenge 57 Pearls and swirls
I just love these gorjuss girls stamps, I coloured it with coloured pencils and sansodor, and used the same technique on the green backing to create a blended frame, I then embossed some green card using the script embossing folder and cuttlebug, and inked over with black ink. The greeting, swirls and leaves are stamped and its been embellished with prima hydrangeas (one of which I coloured black with a promarker as I had no black ones) that is attached with a green pearl brad. :o)
Hope you like it I had lots of fun making it, thanks for popping by and looking.

Christmas Card

Here is another card for today fitting in with the Dare you to digi stamp challenge this week is challenge 21 - sketch, I made a Christmas card using another of my own digi stamps, from the lil muffin range. He is again coloured with promarkers, and the papers used are from the BasicGrey wassail paper pad (one of my fav's)

This is the sketch ...

...and here is my card

Red, white & blue challenge

This is a card I made today for the red, white & blue challenge over at Cupcake craft challenge this is my first challenge card that I've done in such a long time, I used one of my own digi stamps (Dax) and coloured him with promarkers (indigo blue) the background was created from coloured card die cut rings as all the blue and red papers I have are too girly. Overall I'm quite pleased with this one as I tend to struggle with boys cards.
